ANNOUNCING
THE FIRST EVER JOHNSTON BUFFALO GRAZE
(because Buffalo may roam, but they also gotta eat)
What is a Johnston Buffalo Graze? A Buffalo Graze gets Johnstonians from all over the country together for regional dinner parties organized around a theme. The goal is to bring roaming Buffalo together to share stories, reconnect, make new friends, and, of course, do some good.
Our inaugural Buffalo Graze will take place on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at a time and location determined by the host. The theme will be: Food That Makes You Remember Johnston!
Here’s how it works:
1. Let Johnston Associate Professor and Incoming Director Kelly Hankin know by May 1, 2010, if you are willing to host a “Buffalo Graze” at your house. Kelly will send hosts a small form to fill out with pertinent information.
2. Once dinner hosts have been established, Kelly will send out a notice on the Johnston Facebook page and the Johnston Website announcing all of the Buffalo Graze hosts. Host emails and phone numbers will not be published on the web. Hosts should also feel free to send out their own FB messages.
3. If you are interested in attended a Buffalo Graze in your region, please contact Kelly_hankin@redlands.edu by June 1, 2010. Kelly will put you in touch with the host. The host will handle the food arrangements and rsvps as he or she sees fit.
4. Hosts should let Kelly Hankin know how many are attending the Graze. Hosts will receive a package with a Johnston FACT sheet, Johnston conversation starters, and nametags.
5. Each attendee should bring the following: a dish based on the theme and a contribution to support the Johnston Center. Contributions of all sizes and needed and appreciated. Check contributions should be made out to University of Redlands/Johnston Center.
6. ENJOY THE DINNER!
7. Hosts and guests should send a report about the dinner to the Johnston FB page. Funny stories? Interesting dishes?
8. Hosts should send the Johnston Center contributions to the following address no later than two weeks after the event: Office of Development, University of Redlands 1200 East Colton Avenue, P.O. Box 3080, Redlands CA 92373-0999
9. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, POST THEM TO FB OR SEND AN EMAIL TO KELLY_HANKIN@REDLANDS.EDU

Price: $100
Join us for the fourth annual Vintage Johnston – one of the highest quality wine events in California! Wine professional John Slater will again provide patrons with a dazzling array of wines. The evening will begin with appetizers and champagnes that are themselves worth the price of admission. Bon Appetit provides a five course gourmet menu, complemented by more than 100 high-end selections from California, Italy, Germany, Spain and Australia. There will be knowledgeable volunteers at each sorting table to assist. Our silent auction and raffle items will be extensive and luxurious.
100% of the proceeds and contributions from this annual event bolster the Johnston Center Student Project Fund. It helps us provide students with opportunities to travel, research, exhibit and produce music and art. In just the last three years, it has supported our students in creating new murals for the complex, filming documentaries here and abroad, producing salons and art exhibits, and documenting sustainable agricultural practices in the region. The funds have also been used to send students to national academic conferences where they present academic papers. At the fourth annual Vintage Johnston on September 25, we know that you will enjoy excellent wine, food, and conversation – and the opportunity to help support our talented students.
Please contact Ericka Smith at (909) 748-8050 or ericka_smith@redlands.edu with any questions or to make reservations.
